Taking Flight: Analysis by Postcardwall

April 15, 2012

I recently came across an interesting analysis of my Taking Flight image on a blog called postcardwall.  It’s always fascinating to see what others read into my imagery; sometimes people will pick up on meanings I intended to weave into the image and sometimes people will read more symbolism within the imagery that I’d not thought of myself.  You can read the post at: http://postcardwall.wordpress.com/2010/03/30/one-hundred-and-thirty-three/ and see if you agree with their interpretation of the image.

Postcardwall was originally started as a collection of postcards by blogger Sophie, in order to help her remember art viewed in exhibitions and galleries across the world.  Each week she adds a postcard to the wall and writes about it, aiming to encourage people to go and seek the real thing.  Recently she exhibited the first three hundred postcards that have made up postcardwall so far with their accompanying text at the Mall Galleries in London.
