Here’s my cover art and design for Good-Bye, Robinson Crusoe and Other Stories. This collection of short stories by John Varley will be published by Subterranean Press in April 2013.
The publisher wanted this cover to echo the feel of the cover for Varley’s The Persistence of Vision collection from the 70s. So similarly, I chose to depict a man and a woman covered by their force-field spacesuits, but doing my take on it.
The type design was based on the design that was already done for the interior by Desert Isle Design, so credit has to go to them for the choice of the typefaces used here.

Cool interpretation, as always. John Varley is one of my favourite authors, STEEL BEACH one of my favourite novels. I read the paperback back in the mid-90s. I’ll definitely have to look into GOOD-BYE ROBINSON CRUSOE . . .
