Robert McCammon Remarques

November 29, 2012

Here are a few remarques I did for some Robert McCammon books.

The client made a special request for the remarque for The Providence Rider; his son had spilt some drink on the book and though he had managed to remove most of the stains, there were still a few small ones along the top edge, so he wanted to see if I could hide these with the drawing.  He had the idea of sketching an octopus with one of the tentacles reaching off the page and carrying on along the top edge.  Most of the stains were covered by the tentacle and the remaining ones were covered by the blood splats.  It wasn’t easy drawing on the top edge of the book but it worked out well in the end!

Dang man, this is sick! I love the idea of coming out into the top of the book like that…that is brilliant. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a remarque quite like this one. The red blood splats mixed in against the black ink work really well too. Your work never ceases to amaze me Vincent, don’t ever stop doing what you do.
