The Nora School Comprehensive Writing Class
Christopher Conlon, one of the authors I’ve worked with in the past, teaches a writing class at The Nora School, a small high school in Maryland in the United States. Last month he contacted me about an assignment he was going to set his students (all aged between 14 – 17 years old) – they were to choose an image from my website and then produce a piece of writing inspired by the artwork. The results of this assignment ranged from short poems and monologues to longer prose pieces and can be read on their class blog: norawriting.livejournal.com. There was a wide range of creative approaches to the assignment and it was very fun and interesting for me to see how these students had re-interpreted my work through their own ideas and combined their personal experiences and feelings into the writing.
Lullaby for the Raingirl, the book I worked with Christopher on, is still available in paperback and Kindle formats and he also has a new novel recently released on Kindle called Savaging the Dark (a paperback edition will follow shortly).
